Plenitude is a literary magazine featuring non-genre short stories, novel excerpts, non-fiction, and poetry from LGBTTQI artists. It “aims to complicate expressions of queerness through the publication of diverse, sophisticated literary writing, graphic narrative and short film, from the very subtle to the brash and unrelenting.”
Plenitude defines “queer literature and arts as works created by LGBTTQI people, rather than works that feature queer content alone.”
Fiction pieces or excerpts should be no longer than 5,000 words; for poetry, send up to 10 pages. They pay $60 (Canadian) per prose piece and $25 (Canadian) per poem for first serial rights.
Fiction and poetry cannot be previously published. Simultaneous submissions are fine. Response is in one to six months.
Plenitude is also open to graphic narratives and book review queries. Find formatting guidelines and submission details at Submit | Plenitude Magazine
About Submission Calls
I do not knowingly announce submission calls by publishers who don’t fulfill contractual obligations. Contact me if you know otherwise, and please conduct due diligence when submitting work and negotiating contracts.
Browse more submission calls or tips for writers. Other than the occasional charity anthology, any calls I post are paying. You can sort calls by payment rate: token, semi-professional, professional, or royalties.

About Submission Calls
I post paying submission calls every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. I focus on fiction calls, but occasionally post paying opportunities for creative nonfiction and poetry.

I strive to ensure that all submission calls I post are open to works with characters from underrepresented groups, including queer/LGBTQIA characters. I do this by checking the publisher's back catalog, submissions policies, or business practices, or by communicating with the publisher directly.
Please contact the publisher through the links in the post if you have questions about a submission call. Contact me if you've had a bad experience with a publisher featured here.
